I have published 26 editions of the North Carolina Business Court Last Month since the beginning of this year. During that time, I have written about over 100 opinions and Orders from the Court. That has involved digesting over 2000 pages of the Judges’ writing. I didn’t use AI to calculate that page number (it wouldn’t do it), so I laboriously calculated those numbers myself.]
I think that this is the best written and most comprehensive coverage of the Opinions and Orders from the North Carolina Business Court. If anyone wants to challenge me on that, I will go toe to toe with them.
You are getting this email because you have been receiving all of these Newsletter editions since the beginning of the year and opening them and have been ignoring my multiple requests that you pay five dollars a month to continue receiving them. You should have unsubscribed if you did not want to hear any more from me. That's easy to do. Just scroll down to the bottom of this email. Please do it now if you are not interested.
I have held off on sending this plea for paid subscribers because I did not want it to get lost in the tidal wave of texts that we all have been receiving from political candidates all over the country promising that they can flip the House or the Senate if we will just give them one or three dollars. I am drowning in that ocean and don’t want to contribute to it on your end.
Even so, I am pretty frustrated by the pitiful number of paid subscribers that have signed on for five dollars per month.
So, I am taking drastic steps. For the first (and possibly only) time I am offering a sale on subscriptions. I have said before that there is not much room to carve a discount from the five dollars per monthly charge I initially implemented, but I am now faced with no choice but to do so.
From now until Thanksgiving Day (November 26, 2026) you will be able to subscribe for the ridiculously low amount of three dollars per month. This is a REAL DEAL.
You can do that right now using Apple Pay:
Unsubscribe anytime. This is not a lifelong commitment.
Every recipient of this email who does not grab this offer will be involuntarily subscribed from my Newsletter on the day after Thanksgiving 2026. You will get reminders periodically of this offer slipping away if you don’t accept it. And if you do want to resubscribe after Thanksgiving, after being involuntarily unsubscribed, the subscription price will then be $10 per month, which I think is actually approaching the real monthly value of this newsletter. Don’t wait for a Christmas sale. There won’t be one.
What are the benefits of being a paid subscriber? A lot, really. In addition to regular emails about the Court’s rulings, you will have access to every Newsletter that I have published at ncbusinesscourtlastmonth.com. That website is currently available to the whole world, though I am working on making it limited to paid subscribers. It is searchable (although in a very rudimentary way, I will concede). I am thinking of adding the archives of my long-standing but no longer active blog about the Business Court (the North Carolina Business Litigation Report) to that protected access. That blog, the first to cover the North Carolina Business Court beginning in 2008, has over 2000 posts discussing Business Court Opinions and Orders. It is no longer “live,” but is searchable (with a betternsearch function than the Newsletter) and is currently available to the world at https://ncbusinesslitigationreport.lexblogplatform.com/ or by clicking the link below.
Please subscribe now, before I decide I’m undercutting myself and decide to quit altogether. That possibility is actively under consideration.
Coming Next
I didn’t post about any decisions by the Court last week (there were only three Opinions issued by the Court in October). But you don't want to miss the next Newsletter: “Judge Houston Wrestles with a Non-Existent Plaintiff (and Wins!).” Coming in a couple of days.
Thank you for reading this and being willing to part with $3 to continue receiving this Newsletter.
